We join National Infection Control SIG PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 22 January 2009 00:00
Marketing Medicine attended the inaugural event of the National Special Interest Group for Infection Control at Crew Hall on 21 January and is pleased to join this vital organisation.

The central role of this new initiative is to bring together business managers, NHS and University professionals across healthcare disciplines with a broad interest in all aspects of Infection Control. The purpose of the inter-profession collaboration is to share critique and develop ideas that will enhance the understanding and provide viable solutions to infection control issues in the UK today.

Katy Draper, Managing Director of Marketing Medicine said “We are very pleased to be involved with this group right from the start.  Many of our clients are developing products and services for whom infection control presents key challenges in helping them to remain competitive.  It is essential that we keep abreast of developments in this key area and use our knowledge and contacts to help add value to our work. Infection Control is clearly one of the key challenges facing healthcare today and it is wonderful that this initiative has started to encourage partnership and collaboration to solve the issues we face”.

This Special Interest Group (SIG) is part a group of eight other SIGs set up by the Health Technologies Knowledge Transfer Network whose website can be found at www.healthtechktn.com.  There were several informative presentations which included A National Update of Healthcare Associated Infections from Shakeel Suleman of the Health Protection Agency, A Good Practice Approach to reducing Hospital Infections by Dr Andrew Dodgson, Consultant Microbiologist from Manchester, Public and Private Sector Partnership examples from Mathew Harte at Biocote and a wider look at Infection Control in the Community from Professor Richard James from the University of Nottingham.  The event also saw the launch of Technology Platform Funding for HCAI projects, available via the Technology Strategy Board – www.innovateuk.org
